Dear President Open Letter from a Canton-based Alternative Energy Service Provider

March 5, 2009

Dear President Obama:

As a solar energy company, here in Michigan for the last 24 years it was a real shock to watch you sign the Recovery Package into reality. After struggling to promote solar energy systems here in Michigan since 1985, suddenly we have real governmental support and recognition. You actually put money to your words and acted as well. We would love to shake your hand when you visit Michigan.

If you have time when in Detroit please stop by our showroom and see our products in action. Mechanical Energy Systems (MES), of Canton Michigan, is a solar energy company that has always been ahead of the times and true to progressive thinking and action. Thirty years ago a mass exodus from the solar industry occurred due to the OPEC oil price manipulation, forcing virtually every solar company in the country to close.

Donna and Joe Napolitano with already 10 years of INC 500 solar experience, bought customer lists from defunct companies, serviced those orphaned solar installations, and grew their business by providing solid reliable, quality service.

Today MES is moving toward manufacturing their own solar thermal panels, building a large distribution and dealership network, and expanding commercial applications. The work environment at MES embodies the dream of all new forward thinking companies. Natural day-lighting is the mode of office and showroom illumination. Natural day-lighting has long been documented as essential to improved work environment, performance, and employee health.

MES is heated by solar space heating supplying heated fresh air exchange and the bathrooms have solar hot water. These aid in providing a healthy air work environment free from tight envelope syndrome and recycled impure air.

At MES, telecommuting is encouraged allowing working mothers flexibility to meet deadlines and manage young children in their own time frame, saving them expensive day care and stress. For those who do not telecommute office hours are flexible to fit employee schedules. Woman owned, an equal opportunity and recognized renewable energy company with over 7000 installations (most in Michigan) and a company older than their 25 year warranties MES is indeed an innovative and great Michigan company.

Thank you for your forward thinking and strong leadership!
